Swahili for–I have stopped doing something–is the first choreography I have worked on with Seiko Azuma. It showcases our exploration of Kizomba as we contribute our experience, vocabulary and technique from other dances such as Argentine Tango and West Coast Swing. We chose the song not only because it moves and inspires us to dance, but also due to my connection to Tanzania; my mother, Elizabeth Chadri, was born in Dodoma, and my maternal grandmother, Ndigwako Bertha Akim King’ori, was born in Tukuyu.
